Overview

The Quality Technician – In-Process Inspection is responsible for performing inspections and quality checks during the manufacturing process to ensure products meet established specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements. This role works closely with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to identify nonconformances, prevent defects, and support continuous improvement.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process inspections of parts, assemblies, and materials at defined manufacturing stages.
  • Verify product conformance to drawings, specifications, control plans, and work instructions.
  • Use inspection tools and measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, gauges, and visual inspection aids.
  • Perform in-process inspections at different stages of the build including documentation and checklist verification.
  • Record inspection results accurately in inspection reports, SPC charts, or electronic quality systems. Communicate inspection results and quality issues to manufacturing operators, supervisors, and quality engineers.
  • Identify, document, and escalate nonconforming material; support containment actions as required.
  • Assist with root cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Support first article inspections (FAI) and setup approvals.
  • Maintain inspection equipment calibration status and basic upkeep.
  • Follow all quality system, safety, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, or equivalent).
  • Participate in continuous improvement and lean activities as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree or technical certification in Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred. Minimum 4 years of related experience in manufacturing quality or inspection.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications.
  • Basic understanding of statistical process control (SPC).
  • Experience using standard measurement and inspection tools.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications (Excel, ERP/MES, quality systems).
  • “Get-it-done” mindset with a strong sense of ownership and urgency, able to drive tasks to completion in fast-paced manufacturing environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience in regulated or high-precision manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO, IATF, AS9100, or similar quality standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment


Salary and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $55,082—$80,788, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
