Overview
As a Senior Buyer, you will serve as a senior-level individual contributor within the Materials organization, responsible for ensuring material availability to support manufacturing operations. You will independently manage complex procurement activities, resolve supply challenges, and influence supplier and cross-functional outcomes in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.
You’ll operate at the center of manufacturing execution—ensuring materials flow seamlessly to production, enabling operational success, and directly impacting the delivery of advanced semiconductor technology.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end purchasing for complex, high-value electromechanical and engineered components supporting manufacturing execution
- Independently manage purchase orders from requisition through delivery, ensuring alignment with production schedules and material requirements
- Proactively resolve supply risks, including shortages, long lead-time constraints, and past-due orders to protect manufacturing continuity
- Serve as a key point of contact for Manufacturing, Materials, and Engineering, ensuring timely communication and issue resolution
- Lead supplier engagement, including negotiation of pricing, lead times, and delivery performance
- Drive execution of engineering changes (ECRs/ECOs) with minimal disruption to production or inventory
- Monitor and improve supplier performance against quality, cost, and delivery expectations
- Manage inventory performance for assigned commodities, including availability, excess & obsolete (E&O), and alignment to demand
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance material flow, operational efficiency, and execution consistency
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, or related field; with a minimum of 8 years of purchasing experience in semiconductor, high-tech, or advanced manufacturing environments; Master's and 6 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understanding of complex electromechanical, long-lead, engineered-to-order supply chains preferred, including semiconductor capital equipment, precision machining, and custom assemblies; experience from transferable industries (e.g., aerospace, defense, medical devices, industrial equipment) is highly valued
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation in support of manufacturing execution
- Strong negotiation, supplier management, and problem-solving skills in production-driven environments
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP preferred) and strong Excel/data analysis capabilities
- Effective communicator with cross-functional teams in fast-paced manufacturing settings
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities independently
- Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on execution excellence
Salary and Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is $97,382—$123,351 plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
