Overview

 

Veeco's customers rely on precision-built semiconductor and compound semiconductor systems arriving exactly when promised, fully compliant with global export and environmental regulations. As the Senior Shipping Coordinator, you will own the end-to-end execution of outbound and inbound logistics for a high-value manufacturing operation, ensuring on-time delivery, regulatory compliance, and cost-effective shipment strategies.

 

This is a senior individual contributor role with day-to-day leadership responsibility, partnering closely with the Materials Supervisor to set shipping priorities and resolve complex logistics challenges. The decisions you make directly impact customer commitments, operational efficiency, and Veeco's reputation for execution excellence. This onsite role is based at Veeco's Somerset, NJ warehouse location.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Own execution of domestic and international shipments, ensuring compliance with export control and environmental regulations.
  • Lead daily shipping priorities and workflow in partnership with the Materials Supervisor, resolving issues that impact delivery commitments or compliance.
  • Drive on-time shipment performance by monitoring metrics, identifying risks, and taking corrective action before delays occur.
  • Exercise independent judgment to resolve shipping exceptions, compliance risks, and last‑minute delivery constraints.
  • Verify outbound packing lists for material accuracy and correct quantities prior to shipment.
  • Own coordination of outbound shipments with major carriers, selecting optimal modes to balance cost, risk, and delivery timelines.
  • Execute all outbound shipping transactions in SAP with accuracy and audit-ready documentation.
  • Manage inventory and replenishment of shipping consumables and packaging materials.
  • Oversee receiving, inspection, and disposition of incoming materials, returns, and repair or replacement shipments.
  • Provide informal training and guidance to shipping team members to support operational consistency, without formal people management responsibility.
  • Respond to emergency delivery needs during on-call rotation.
  • Operate forklift and other material handling equipment as needed to support inbound and outbound operations.

 

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required, with at least 4 years of related shipping, receiving, logistics, or export operations experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience executing export-compliant domestic and international shipments.
  • Proficiency in SAP required for handling complex shipping and inventory transactions.
  • Experience working with major domestic and freight carriers, including FedEx, UPS, DHL, and less-than-truckload (LTL) providers.
  • Ability to safely lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to participate in a mandatory on-call rotation every-other-month (weekday evenings and/or Saturdays as needed).

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of industrial packaging requirements, including crating and custom container solutions; basic carpentry skills for building crates and containers.
  • Experience selecting cost-effective transportation methods while maintaining compliance and delivery commitments.
  • Mathematical and analytical skills to evaluate shipping costs, tradeoffs, and logistical decisions.
  • Comfortable making independent decisions and escalating risks clearly and early.
  • Effective at coordinating across operations, logistics providers, and internal stakeholders; clear and professional communicator.
  • Forklift certification highly preferred; can be obtained onsite if needed.


Salary and Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is $50,784—$64,326, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
