Overview:

Veeco plans to increase Spector® Ion Beam Deposition (IBD) capacity approximately tenfold by early 2027 to meet more than $250 million in equipment orders from manufacturers building the optical interconnects that power AI data centers worldwide. Every one of those systems needs to be installed, qualified, and kept running at the customer's expected performance level — and that is your job.  

 

The Senior Operations Program Manager will be responsible for large cross-functional Operations Programs involving complex process equipment and vacuum-based Ion-Beam Technology and/or Metal-Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition used in the manufacturing of semiconductor components. The ideal candidate will have a broad vision for what successful looks like – Safe, Timely, On-Quality and Cost realization of sales orders/projects. The candidate will be responsible for coordination, program management, decision making, and clear communication in an extremely fast paced environment. This position will require strong interpersonal skills with personnel from multiple functional areas including Engineering, Production, Contract Manufacturers, Technical Support, Field Service, Product Line Management, Quality and Supply Chain.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the planning and execution of all aspects of large complex projects/ sales orders.
  • Ensure plan includes risk assessment, and mitigation strategies across all elements where needed.
  • Work with Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Supplier Quality to ensure that all incoming components are tested and quality-inspected, meeting all critical-to-quality/ use-case performance specifications.
  • To reduce cycle-time and improve productivity, launch shift-left projects and bench-test of various assemblies to feed a lean-line of supply to the main assembly/test line.
  • Work with supply chain to ensure seamless supply of all components to enable product realization per schedule.
  • Work with Supply Chain and Engineering organizations to deliver preemptively on decisions and alternate designs related to product obsolescence or specification deviations to ensure no disruption to supply
  • Align with production managers and contract manufacturers on the ramp of such products including cleanroom requirements, space, utilities, tools, procedures, staffing, training, and successful delivery
  • Manage costs to ensure that gross margin goals are met/exceeded
  • Ensure that all capital expenditures related to the execution of the ramp are adequately planned and purchased in a timely manner
  • Act as the primary point of contact on overall ramp execution, and present to executive management
  • Be willing, and able to travel to contract manufacturers and other supplier sites in order to enable the ramp – up to ~30% of the time

 

Qualifications:

BS degree in an Engineering Discipline (Mechanical, Electrical preferred), with 12+ years of experience managing complex programs which require interaction and coordination with multiple disciplines is required. Advanced degree preferred. Hands-on experience with ERP programs such as SAP is required.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Experience with planning and successful execution of large complex equipment/ systems, which include various electro-mechanical components and software
  • Experience with assessing, planning and managing risk in operations execution including design, supply chain, and quality of components and systems
  • Experience in applying lean-principles to create a product line – understanding of TAKT time, resourcing, lean-line, flow, value stream analysis
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Strong program management and time management skills, together with the ability to multitask at the project and task level
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Ability to adapt to many environments, wear many hats and interact with a diverse group of individuals
  • Strong ability to interface with Engineering, Marketing, Supply Chain, Quality and Executive Management

 


Salary and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $156,000-$200,000, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
