Overview:

Veeco is seeking a Buyer to effectively process all assigned requirements into purchase orders with suppliers and perform all post-order management work to ensure services or materials being procured are completed in a timely manner and in compliance to Veeco Purchasing Procedures and Objectives. This opportunity sits within our Supply Chain team. We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual who is detail orientated, thinks outside the box and is great at problem solving.  This position is responsible for driving key partnership with suppliers, ensuring customer satisfaction, and acting as a liaison between purchasing and the engineering team to develop growth opportunities at Veeco.

Responsibilities:

  • Place purchase orders for assigned vendors or commodities; utilizing Material Requirements Planning (MRP) or other planning strategies and performing all steps in the procurement process with accuracy and care to avoid economic loss and customer dissatisfaction.   
  • Maintain schedules over the life of the purchase order from receipt of requisition, placement of order, managing expedites / reschedules / cancelations / past due orders, to acceptance of the assigned material into stock and the resolve of invoice discrepancies. 
  • Negotiate best of price, lead-time, and delivery.
  • Support global sourcing strategies and continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Manage supplier relationships and performance to meet company expectations and objectives.
  • Partner with Purchasing team to manage all inbound deliveries and ensure customer satisfaction is met with schedule adherence based on engineering projects/timeline.
  • Act as liaison with Suppliers and Logistics departments to determine ideal scheduling and timelines for projects.
  • Review PO's, BOM's, Open Order Reports and other necessary reports to support Sourcing Program Management (SPM).

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Supply Chain or related discipline is required. 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read/understand specifications/engineering CAD drawings a plus
  • Proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience using an MRP System, preferably SAP a plus
  • Must be detail oriented, able to multi-task, strong interpersonal and negotiating skills and able to work under tight deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned

 

 

 

The expected salary range for this position is $51,917 – $65,762, plus bonus opportunity. When determining your pay, we will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
