Overview:
Veeco is seeking an ambitious Senior Field Service Engineer eager to learn Veeco’s technology and drive customer satisfaction through support. The successful candidate will be responsible for installation, calibration, preventative maintenance, metrology equipment repairs and general upkeep of semiconductor equipment.
This position will involve considerable domestic travel as a part of normal duties and possibly international travel as needed for training. But day-to-day duties will primarily default to a major customer site in Eugene Oregon. Local candidates preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and/
orparticipate in the installation, upgrade, testing, warranty, and repair of equipment, following up all customer’s and Veeco’s protocols related to safety and security - Mentor and train junior Veeco FSE’s as needed and/or with the guidance of the Service Manager.
- Isolate and resolve equipment and systems malfunctions and take corrective action
- Create/Develop/Implement/Proliferate with the implementation of new processes, methods, and designs
- Develop relationships with the customer to ensure high customer satisfaction and retention
- Serve as contact for onsite activities, communications, and provide support in all matters related to the equipment, technical, and field aspects for the targeted site
- Report all tool actions/events and daily activities in field service reports such as the Veeco Service Portal (VSP) and follow up on reports as needed.
- Adhere to safety, confidentiality (IP), and travel/expense policies.
- Constant communication everyday workday with teammates and Field Service Manager.
- Daily review of outlook email inox, calendar, meeting attendance, MS Teams communications, etc..
- Spend up to 12 hours a day, but more typically 8 hrs., on your feet, working in a cleanroom suit with a hood and face covering.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Travel domestically with as little as 1 week of notice – although this is not typical. At least 2 to 4 weeks’ notice is typical and usually no more than once a month although more is possible.
- Must be flexible for emergency call-in work, although not typical.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizen, U.S. Person, or Immigration Status Requirements: This position requires access to information controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). As such, U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to have unescorted access under this program/contract.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or military with a minimum of 8 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of vacuum, chemistry, electronics, microchip processing, gas delivery systems, robotics, mechanics, or combination with similar semiconductor process equipment such as AMAT, NOVELLUS, AIXTRON, EBARA, LAM, etc. is preferred
- Experieince supporting MOCVD tools is a huge preference
- Strong aptitude for reading and interpreting electrical schematics and Piping & Installation Diagrams (PID’s)
- Mechanically inclined with strong aptitude for usage of hand tools on complicated electrical/pneumatic/mechanical machinery
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite of Products is a big plus – word, excel, outlook, power point, teams, one note, edge, etc.
- Must possess a positive attitude and excellent communication skills with the ability to speak with clarity and interface effectively with customer, management, and peers
- Knowledge of machine vision systems, electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, robotics, and computer programming.
- System integration, test, and debug skills
- Experience with Semiconductor industry safety requirements (COHE and clean room environment protocols for cleanliness and particle contamination prevention for process wafers and chambers.
- Displays broad-based customer focus and commitment to resolve problems and make decisions based on the priority of the problem in relation to business needs
- Ability and desire to build excellent customer relationships
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure to meet support deadlines in a multi-tasking environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Must not be afraid of working on machines that use toxic/pyrophoric chemicals
Salary and Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is $57.50—$61.46, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
