Overview:
Veeco is looking for a Sr. Sourcing Program Manager who will be based in the San Jose, California Area. This position is responsible for supporting the needs and objectives of sourcing strategy and continuous supply chain improvement for the assigned programs or material cateogries. Ensuring support for the procurement of a wide variety of raw materials, equipment, components and services consistent with the specified levels of quality, delivery, and price. Ensuring effective representation of the needs and objectives of an effective and efficient supply chain by understanding business, technical and supply chain requirements, performing research, working effectively within and across business units, functions and with suppliers and leveraging existing commodity strategies to achieve the best total cost solution for the program and the company. This person is to have a broad understanding of supply management and is to develop a solid understanding of the programs to which they are assigned. The Sr. Sourcing Program Manager may or may not have direct reports and will be participating in the strategic direction of the supply chain organization; striving to meet or exceed external and internal customer expectations and committing to continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership for product and supply chain development for the programs assigned and the product lines(s) supported, ensuring effective support for the objectives and schedules of the program and product lines.
- Develops a thorough understanding of assigned categories and programs enabling supplier management and development in support of the business needs.
- Acts as lead supply chain representation for the programs, teams and locations assigned, ensuring supplier performance and program success and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Anticipates, recognizes and solves complex supply problems, communicating to and involving colleagues, management and stakeholders as necessary.
- Introduces and leads new thought / “best of” supply chain and sourcing practices into the group.
- Negotiates best in class price, quality, delivery, payment and delivery terms, and customer service requirements that align with business objectives.
- Negotiates agreements and contracts to establish a framework for the working client / supplier business model, facilitates the needs of the business relationship, manages supply risk and meets business objectives.
- Leads, coordinates and supports on-site supplier visits, assessments, audits and continuous improvement opportunities to improve upon total cost and address issues with supplier performance.
- Supports corporate goals as to quality, cost, customer service and inventory management.
- Supports and provides leadership in creating and executing on the vision the client has for its' supply chain organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a Business-related field preferred. Minimum of 12 years of experience in purchasing is required with at least 5 of those years in supply chain strategic sourcing. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. APICS or CPM Certification desired.
- This position involves access to export-controlled technology. In accordance with U.S. export control regulations, candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents (green card holders), or individuals who have formally applied for lawful permanent resident status.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong verbal and written communication; effectively and consistently communicating expectations, requirements and issues with suppliers and stakeholders across functions and business units and within the supply chain organization
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with middle and senior management, including delivering presentations to internal and external stakeholders
- Strong negotiations skills
- Excellent data assessment and decision making
- Complete knowledge of most aspects of Purchasing including but not limited to: Source selection, price / cost analysis, negotiation, purchase justification and documentation
- Must be highly detail oriented and able to work on multiple tasks independently with little direct supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Understands Purchasing Law as it applies to the purchasing function
- Must have demonstrated proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally 25%
Salary and Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is $154,515 — $195,719, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
