OVERVIEW
Veeco’s San Jose facility is the company’s manufacturing center for advanced semiconductor equipment, including our Advanced Packaging (AP) systems. These systems enable high-performance computing, advanced memory integration, and next-generation packaging technologies that support faster, more efficient semiconductor devices used across AI, mobile, and data infrastructure applications.
In this role, you will support the build, integration, calibration, and testing of complex AP systems on the manufacturing floor. This includes working with precision mechanical assemblies, optical components, and electrical subsystems while following detailed work instructions and quality standards. You will collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and quality teams to resolve issues, maintain build schedules, and ensure systems meet performance and reliability requirements.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced environment where attention to detail, strong teamwork, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are critical. Your contributions directly impact production throughput, system quality, and our ability to meet customer delivery commitments—and your work ensures these systems reach customers on time and at full quality.
This role will support Swing Shift 2:30-11:00pm.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build and integrate complex systems and subassemblies following detailed mechanical and electrical work instructions, ensuring every connection, fastener, and parameter meets specification.
- Interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics to execute accurate assembly steps without guesswork.
- Use precision measurement tools including torque wrenches, digital multimeters (DMM), height standards, precision gauges, levels, and specialized electronic data capture tools as specified.
- Prepare systems for shipment, including controlled disassembly, protective packing, and final readiness documentation for customer delivery.
- Document builds and pass-downs accurately, storing data in Veeco’s designated systems so every integration can be traced and analyzed.
- Perform initial troubleshooting on system or subsystem issues, escalating and partnering with Manufacturing Engineers to resolve root causes quickly.
- Identify improvement opportunities in safety practices, assembly processes, or 6S compliance and share actionable recommendations with your lead or Manufacturing Engineer.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and other assigned duties essential to meeting production schedules in a high-demand environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to work swing shift 2:30-11:00pm
- 2–4 years hands-on experience in assembly, integration, or troubleshooting of complex electromechanical systems — semiconductor industry preferred but not required.
- Education: Associate’s degree in a technical field or equivalent technical experience (e.g., field service, advanced manufacturing). Military technical background strongly valued.
- Ability to work Swing Shift and overtime, weekends, or holidays during peak demand periods.

- Software capability: Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for reporting; SAP or other ERP experience a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs, work at benches or assembly stations for extended periods, and safely use standard and precision tools in a manufacturing environment.
