Overview:
The Sales Director will be responsible for maximizing Veeco’s sales volume and building influential relationships with customers. Reporting directly to the Country Manager, Japan Sales, the Sales Director will manage and coordinate all sales activities and has the overall sales responsibility for the company’s capital equipment sales for the assigned customers. In addition, this role is responsible for supporting business unit strategies for growing services revenue and will align and coordinate the efforts of appropriate resources within both Veeco and the customer in order to maximize customer satisfaction. The primary role is to attain sales goals by developing sales, increasing product market share, establishing and enhancing relationships with customers, and maximizing customer satisfaction without sacrificing profitability
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate and be part of the transition process of Japan Sales Strategy change
- Responsible for overall sales performance for the assigned customers in Japan, including Sales Planning, customer management, channel partner management, lead follow-up, prospecting, advocating negotiating and exceeding sales goals
- Propose Veeco product solutions in line with customer requirements and driving customer specification review
- Voice of the Customer: successfully translate customer needs and requests to the Business Units for product enhancements, performance, and support
- Accurate reporting and submission of monthly and quarterly rolling sales forecasts
- Regularly updating and maintaining pertinent sales contacts, opportunities and forecasts in SalesForce
- Proactively working with Global Service and Business Units for customer satisfaction.
- Improve sales volume and market share by keeping current with industry, such as supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, competition, and market research analysis
- Generate and submit regular reports to update Country Manager on business activity and results
- Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, making recommendations to management
- Represents Company on various trade shows, exhibitions, and seminars
- Maintains effective budgetary controls of sales expenses
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (Engineering or related technical degree preferred) and at least 10 years of sales experience in the capital equipment industry. Experience with Veeco's product line is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proven track of sales records in capital equipment companies
- Strong technical know-how, business presentation, negotiation, analysis and communication skills
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Highly analytical with strong attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal, influencing (at all levels) and persuasive skills
- Self-starter; can work both independently and as a strong team player
- Mature and resilient, can work under pressure and effectively manages competing priorities
- Cross-cultural intelligent and change agile; prior experiences working in MNC especially US company is preferred
- Prior channel partner management experience is preferred
- High standard of business integrity
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Japanese and English
- Domestic and international travel required
