Overview

Veeco’s Taylor location is seeking a technically sound applications engineer to help develop new applications and to provide process support. Veeco is well-positioned with great teams, core technologies, and a strong entrepreneurial culture that supports new product development. The main objective of this role is to develop new applications, support customer requests, and develop new products. The application engineer will also discover new opportunities for Veeco to add value either through new product development or existing product enhancements around our core technology. In this role, the applications engineer interfaces with customers, engineering, marketing, sales and service.

OVERVIEW

Advanced semiconductor manufacturers are increasingly relying on laser annealing technologies to improve device performance while minimizing thermal impact on leading-edge logic and memory devices. Veeco's laser annealing portfolio is expanding into new applications across advanced node manufacturing, creating a need for an Applications Engineer who can translate customer challenges into production-ready process solutions. In this role, you will work directly with semiconductor customers, drive development of new annealing applications, and influence future product capabilities. Your work will help customers accelerate technology roadmaps while shaping the next generation of Veeco's laser processing platforms. Based on publicly available information, Veeco continues to invest in its Laser Spike Annealing (LSA) and emerging laser annealing technologies for advanced semiconductor manufacturing.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead development of new laser annealing applications that improve semiconductor device performance, yield, and manufacturability.
  • Translating customer process challenges into validated solutions, accelerating adoption of Veeco laser processing technologies.
  • Establish and standardize best known methods for process development, process control, and continuous improvement across customer and internal laboratories.
  • Drive cross-functional problem resolution with engineering, service, product management, and sales teams to achieve sustainable technical outcomes.
  • Evaluate process performance using system diagnostics, experimental data, and statistical analysis to expand application capability and improve tool performance.
  • Present technical findings, application results, and product capabilities to customers, executive stakeholders, and commercial teams.
  • Train customers and internal teams on process methodology, system operation, and application best practices to improve long-term customer success.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of semiconductor process engineering, applications engineering, process integration, or related industry experience.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%.
  • Eligible to work in and travel throughout customer locations within the United States and globally.
  • Experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing environments, technology development, or process engineering programs.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Semiconductor process integration experience within advanced logic, memory, or related device technologies.
  • Knowledge of laser annealing, rapid thermal processing, ion implantation, or other advanced thermal processing techniques.
  • Skilled at designing experiments, interpreting process data, and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to customers, engineers, and business stakeholders.
  • Experience collaborating across engineering, service, product management, and commercial organizations to achieve customer outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to build credibility with customers through technical expertise and structured problem solving.
  • Able to balance independent technical ownership with effective teamwork in a fast-moving product development environment.

 

 

 


Salary and Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is $100,183.00 -$126,900.00, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
