Veeco has an opening in Plainview, NY for a skilled and experienced Supervisor of Electrical Engineering to oversee and participate in the planning, design, development, and implementation of ETO (Engineer-To-Order), CIP, and sustaining projects for semiconductor capital equipment. This role provides leadership to a team of engineers, ensuring high quality, cost-effective, and compliant solutions that meet organizational goals and industry standards.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and mentor a team of electrical engineers.
  • Assign tasks, set priorities, and monitor performance to ensure project deadlines and objectives are met.
  • Foster a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee electrical engineering projects from concept through completion, including scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Review and approve technical drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Provide guidance on electrical system design, power distribution, automation, and control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with design standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and participate in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions for complex technical issues.
  • Stay current with technological advancements and design tools, recommending innovative solutions.
  • Help define design specifications based on customer requirements
  • Design for controls, A/C power and overall systems, including creation of system and subsystem-level schematics
  • Generate related documentation for product release
  • Perform selection and specification of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) parts for systems integration
  • Integration, design, and test of motion control system hardware and software
  • Creation of new parts and Bill of Materials (BOMs) for release
  • Resolution of obsolescence issues
  • ECN/ECO creation
  • Develops system test procedures
  • Supports Production through hands-on troubleshooting of systems
  • Supports Field Service and customers through answering of technical questions and troubleshooting

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 5 years of related experience or a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 3 years of related experience is required. A minimum of one year in a supervisory or leadership role. AutoCAD experience is required. SolidWorks Electrical for 3D cable routing a plus. ERP/MRP system experience required; SAP preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with A/C Power distribution design
  • Capability to create, read, and troubleshoot electrical schematics
  • Working capability to read and understand mechanical drawings
  • IEC 61131-3 PLC programming and HMI programming, structured text a plus
  • Motion control experience, Beckhoff controls experience a plus
  • CE, UL, TUV, and RoHS regulatory experience
  • Experience with project management and team leadership
  • Experience developing capital equipment, experience in semiconductor industry a plus
  • Experience with vacuum equipment or robotics preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and work with a cross-functional team in a matrixed organization
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, including MS Project or similar
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Salary and Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is $110,748.00—$140,281.00, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
