OVERVIEW

Veeco’s ion beam etch and deposition platforms sit at the center of some of the most demanding wafer processing challenges in advanced packaging, compound semiconductors, and next‑generation logic and memory devices. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will own the electrical architecture of complex vacuum process equipment—systems where power delivery, motion control, safety, and reliability directly impact customer yield and uptime. Your work translates customer and process requirements into robust, manufacturable electrical designs that scale from prototype through high‑volume production. The decisions you make directly shape the performance, serviceability, and regulatory readiness of Veeco’s ion beam and physical vapor deposition platforms used by leading device manufacturers worldwide.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the electrical architecture and detailed design of complex vacuum process equipment from concept through manufacturing release.
  • Convert customer, product, and regulatory requirements into clear electrical specifications that balance performance, safety, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Design and release electrical schematics, assemblies, layouts, and documentation integrating power supplies, motion systems, robotics, sensors, and control hardware.
  • Resolve advanced electrical and system‑level issues through structured root‑cause analysis across development, manufacturing, and fielded systems.
  • Set technical direction during design reviews and mentor junior engineers, raising overall design quality and consistency.
  • Partner with Mechanical, Software, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Field Service teams to ensure seamless system integration, build, and installation.
  • Plan and execute electrical tests and design‑of‑experiments, translating data into actionable engineering recommendations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of capital equipment design experience, or Master’s degree with 6+ years.
  • Proven ownership of electrical design for complex electro‑mechanical systems.
  • Professional experience using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or a comparable electrical CAD platform
  •

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Advanced expertise in analog and digital circuit design, including schematic development, testing, and formal release.
  • Hands‑on ability to debug electrical issues using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and component‑level analysis.
  • Experience integrating power supplies, motion controllers, PLCs, and electrical interfaces into larger platforms.
  • Working knowledge of vacuum equipment, robotics, and motion control systems.
  • Familiarity with CE, UL, TUV, and RoHS requirements and design‑for‑compliance practices.
  • Skilled at distilling complex technical concepts into clear documentation and presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Comfortable working across disciplines and influencing decisions without direct authority.
