Overview:
Based in Plainview, NY, this role partners closely with the Senior Manager of Corporate Payroll to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant U.S. payroll operations. Building on your working knowledge of payroll, you’ll own recurring pieces of the biweekly ADP cycle, perform targeted audits using SAP Time & Attendance, and drive process improvements that strengthen our controls and employee experience. This is a hands-on opportunity to apply and deepen your ADP and SAP skills within a fast-moving, high-tech environment.

This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days/week in the Plainview, NY, office

Responsibilities:

Payroll processing & controls

  • Execute assigned steps of Veeco’s biweekly ADP payroll cycle (employee master data changes, special payments, payroll previews, gross‑to‑net variance checks) and help ensure files post on time and accurately.
  • Perform pre- and post-payroll audits leveraging SAP Time & Attendance (CATS) and ADP reports; research and resolve exceptions (missing approvals, schedule anomalies, leave codes, overtime).
  • Support quarter-end/year-end activities (W‑2/W‑2C review, taxable fringe validation, stock/bonus taxation checks) and coordinate with Finance on general ledger interfaces and reconciliations.

Compliance & policy adherence

  • Apply Veeco’s Global Payroll Policy and U.S. wage/time practices; help maintain auditable documentation and SOX-friendly checklists for internal/external reviews.
  • Monitor adherence to timekeeping deadlines and approvals, escalating issues to partners in HR/People Ops and local managers as needed.

Employee support & case management

Serve as a point of contact for employee pay questions (earnings/deductions, direct deposit, taxes, address changes), balancing service with policy compliance.

Reporting & reconciliation

Build and run recurring payroll/attendance reports (e.g., overtime, supplemental pay, late time approvals), analyze variances, and present findings with recommended actions.

Continuous improvement

Recommend and pilot process improvements that reduce defects and cycle time (report automation, audit templates, job aids); document updates to SOPs/playbooks.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business, etc.) and at least two (2) years of relevant payroll experience are preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience with ADP is also preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Practical experience with ADP Workforce Now (or equivalent) and SAP Time & Attendance (CATS) for U.S. non-exempt and exempt populations.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. payroll fundamentals (gross‑to‑net, pre/post‑tax deductions, garnishments, taxable fringe, multi-state basics) and a quality mindset aligned to Veeco’s Global Payroll Policy
  • Fluency with Excel (lookups, pivots) and comfort with data reconciliation and variance analysis.
  • Strong customer service, confidentiality, and communication skills; ability to work to fixed deadlines with accuracy.
  • Payroll certifications (FPC/CPP) are a plus.
