Overview:

The Field Service Engineer performs routine customer support activities involving the installation, modification, repair, and preventive maintenance of complex equipment and systems to ensure their proper functioning.  This role is responsible for instructing customers in the operation and maintenance of the system.  The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently under general instruction, following established policies and procedures, to ensure that company and customer quality standards are met.  Additionally, this person will work on problems of moderate scope and demonstrate judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine the appropriate course of action. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Install, modify, repair, and perform preventive maintenance procedures on equipment and systems in accordance with SOP policies, procedures, and the work direction of the supervisor or site lead.
  • Train customer personnel in equipment operation.
  • Interface with customers to ensure customer satisfaction with equipment and service levels.
  • Conform at all times to Veeco and the customer’s safety, cleanliness, and working protocol policies to maintain a safe and clean work environment. 
  • Prepare SARs and other reports as required in a timely and efficient manner.
  • React to change productively and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Attend seminars/conferences on pertinent topics to expand Veeco's knowledge base of standards and new ideas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:
Associate or Bachelor's degree in electronics, physics, robotics, material science and engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field with a minimum of two years’ experience in field service support in a laser equipment or laser-related company.
 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Reading and writing fluency in English
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently out of home base
